Today, the number of undernourished people in the world has reached 815 million. That's 11% of the population.

With global hunger on the rise, farms face challenges in meeting demand of food due to high costs of water, land, and labor.

In an effort to address this issue, Apex Farms has developed what's called a Vertical Farming System.

Vertical farming is the practice of growing produce in vertically stacked layers. This method can help produce food in environments where land is scarce or unusable.

According to Global Market Insights, the global vertical farming market is projected to surpass $13 billion by 2024. This growth is being fueled by the ability to grow mass amounts of fresh produce in highly-populated areas.

Meanwhile, vertical farming has gained significant interest from top investors. These include venture capital firms SoftBank Capital and DCM Ventures, along with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Apex Farms’ patented system allows farmers to grow up to three times more produce than other vertical growing systems. And it uses 75% less water than conventional farming methods.

The company’s hydroponic system grows a variety of plants, including vine plants, root plants, flowers, and greens. The rows of plants are easily accessible from the ground, eliminating the need for costly conveyor belts or machinery.

The company is currently testing its system on farms in Colorado and Delaware.

Following successful tests, Apex plans to sell its systems to farmers and produce growers. The company will generate revenue from sales of its systems, as well as a recurring maintenance fee.
