A fascinating new field is quickly developing.

With this field, science and technology are being used in an effort to fully realize human capacity.

It incorporates Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Psychology, Technology, Neurobiology and Genetics to make "cognitive enhancement" products.

The field is called "Neurohacking."

As Jason Silva, host of Brain Games on NatGeoTV, has said, "We're entering an age where advancements in psychology, technology... are allowing us to peel underneath the hood of our brains."

Neurohacking start-ups create everything from cognitive performance supplements to hardware, and these start-ups are being backed by such top VCs as Sequoia and Andreessen Horowitz.

A new start-up called Neurohacker (NHC) aims to be a leader in this fast-emerging space.

Its approach is to create a "product engine," a way to make a host of novel products across a diverse number of use
cases and with a number of different technologies.

Its approach allows it to formulate products using ingredients that fall into the FDA’s “food” and “dietary ingredient” categories, which means that it does not have to undergo the multi-stage trials that the FDA requires for new drug products.

By taking this approach, NHC can bring products to market at much lower costs and, therefore, can sell them directly to end consumers at prices they can afford.

As Andrew Huberman, Tenured Professor of Neurobiology at Stanford Med School and a Neurohacker investor, said, "Cognitive enhancement technologies, like ingestible supplements, hardware technologies, or behavioral strategies, are here to stay, and are evolving fast into the mainstream. It is obvious that people want to upgrade their mental performance, but most just don't know how in a sustained way. As a career neuroscientist, I get asked about the topic of cognitive enhancement tools all the time...

"My answer used to be, 'there is nothing yet.' I learned about NHC and their plans to build and curate products for cognitive enhancement two years ago. I invested in NHC based on their commitment to create the best possible products and their insistence on grounding everything on the best available science."

Its first product is called Qualia...

Qualia is a "nootropic stack" (a set of supplements that benefit brain function) that contains 42 ingredients, and is designed to optimize mental capacity, improve focus and reduce anxiety, so you can be more productive.

As one customer said about his experience with this product, "Amazing focus, uplifted mood, and decreased procrastination best describe my experience with Qualia."

The suggested price is $149 for a monthly supply or $129 if you sign up as a subscriber. About 25% of its customers sign up as subscribers on that first sale. The gross margins are generally about 27%.

KEY FACTS
* $2 million in sales in 1.5 years.
* Revenues from April-May 2017 reached $821,123.
* Over 20,000 customers.
* Mainstream media coverage from Wall Street Journal, Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, Huffington Post, etc.

Now the company is expanding. It's launching on Amazon.com in July, and it's pursuing several major wholesales accounts, including grocery and big box stores, and Doctors and Psychiatrists' offices.

But its approach is not limited to nootropic products. Over the next year, it intends to extend its product line to provide support for things like pain, sleep, and hormonal balance.

Beyond that, it is looking at new technical modalities like EEG feedback and transcranial electromagnetic stimulation.

This is a market with big potential. Even its first core market is large. For example, just the off-label use of Adderall and Modafinil to increase cognitive ability is a $10 billion global market. More broadly, the market includes products that help with sleep, anxiety, depression, learning, and meditation. This is a $50 billion to $100 billion global market.
