CompanionCBD makes CBD-based soft chews for pets.

Unlike other pet products that offer inadequate, inconsistent doses of CBD, this company’s chews deliver science-based concentrations of the cannabinoid. These products have produced tangible, documentable therapeutic results, and can help manage a pet’s anxiety, pain, seizures, and neuro-degenerative conditions.

According to Nielsen, in 2018, Americans spent $33 billion on pet food and treats. Another $33 billion was spent on over-the-counter products including medications and other forms of veterinary care.

Increasingly, pet owners are turning to CBD-based products for relief. According to Brightfield Group, a market research company focused on the CBD market, sales of CBD pet products quadrupled from $8 million in 2017 to $32 million in 2018. This company projects the U.S. market for CBD-based pet products to surpass $1 billion by 2022.

CompanionCBD believes this market is largely untapped. That’s because, as mentioned, other CBD-based animal products don’t provide an effective dosage of the cannabinoid. These products are often marketed as “treats” and don’t contain enough of the compound to provide real therapeutic benefits.

CompanionCBD’s products, in contrast, provide this benefit. In the words of the company, its secret is “no secret…we simply include enough CBD to make a real difference.”

To ensure safety and efficacy, CompanionCBD tests its products with independent labs three times, twice prior to manufacturing. The final product undergoes rigorous scrutiny to determine the exact concentration of active CBD and whether any contaminants exist.

To CompanionCBD’s knowledge, it’s the only veterinarian-owned CBD manufacturer that produces products in a cGMP/FDA approved facility and whose products are certified by the National Animal Supplement Council.

CompanionCBD launched its initial product line of CBD chews to veterinarian hospitals in October 2018, and launched its retail platform and e-commerce website in September 2019. The company has generated limited revenues so far.

The company offers its cheese-flavored chews in 60-count bottles, ranging from 5mg of CBD in each chew to 40mg. The proper dosage depends on the animal’s size and weight. Prices for each bottle range from $75 to $130.

To help pet owners determine which product is right for their animal, CompanionCBD offers free access to a veterinary portal. This portal features an “Ask a Vet” option, which enables owners to conference with a veterinarian to determine their pet’s specific dosing needs. CompanionCBD offers this service for free to enhance the value of its product.

Said one satisfied pet owner in a testimonial, “I would recommend CompanionCBD’s products to anyone who wants to see their dogs happy and healthy without sacrificing their health using traditional steroids and other medications.”

In addition to chews for pet owners, the company provides product tools, digital infrastructure, and legal guidance to veterinarians who are interested in learning more about CBD’s impact on animals.

In fact, CompanionCBD is the first company to produce a nationally-recognized, Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) CBD continuing education module for the veterinary community. Globally, more than 5,000 veterinarians and technicians have completed its education courses, and new courses are set for release in Q1 2020.

With funds raised, CompanionCBD will continue work on its upcoming products. These include C3, a new line of soft chews for companion animals which contain additional therapeutic ingredients, as well as CBD product for horses. Both products will launch in Q1 2020.
