FidoTV is a television network that broadcasts original content and movies for people who love dogs.

Just as food enthusiasts have the Food Network, homeowners have HGTV, and sports fans have ESPN, FidoTV is geared toward the 155 million dog owners in the U.S.

FidoTV is what’s known as a “niche network.” These are entertainment networks that feature content related to a specific area or interest.

Since 2011, eight of these niche networks have been acquired for huge sums — for example:

In February 2016, the Travel Channel was sold to Scripps Network for $385 million…

In January 2016, the Tennis Channel was sold to Sinclair Broadcasting for $350 million…

And in November 2014, the Sportsman Channel was sold to Kroenke Sports Entertainment for $275 million.

With respect to FidoTV, dog-related content draws significant viewership:

YouTube has more than 17 million videos featuring dogs, which in total receive more than 1 billion monthly views.

Meanwhile, according to Box Office Mojo, movies featuring dogs achieve higher ticket sales than competing movies by more than 200%.

FidoTV’s “dog-centric” content is intended to educate, inform, and entertain viewers. Some of the channel’s programming includes:

Tibor to the Rescue — This reality show features dog trainer Tibor Feigel, who works with dogs to correct behavioral issues.

Puppy SOS — This reality show features host Brad Pattison visiting homes with puppies in need of training.

Which Woof’s for Me? — This show reviews different dog breeds to provide an in-depth look at what potential dog owners should know before choosing a pet.

FidoTV launched in November 2015. The network is distributed to 4.5 million households through multiple Internet streaming services, including AT&T U-Verse, Google Fiber, Amazon Prime Video, Cincinnati Bell, and CenturyLink.

Later this year, FidoTV will launch live-stream content to the Roku streaming media player. This will increase the company’s total subscriber reach to 20 million viewers.

FidoTV has received funding from the American Kennel Club, the largest dog registry in the world.

FidoTV has multiple revenue streams:

Paid advertising is offered for the content broadcast on both the television and digital platforms…

Syndication of FidoTV content is available for purchase by other broadcast outlets…

Companies can sponsor FidoTV programs and original content…

And international distributors can license FidoTV original content.

FidoTV will generate additional revenue when it launchs a home shopping program featuring pet products.
