Hypnos Virtual is bringing “Smell-O-Vision” into the 21st century.

Streaming media, along with Virtual Reality technology, have exploded in popularity. But these experiences have to go beyond on-screen images and sound.

Content must do more than just “show and tell.” It has to teleport viewers from their homes into whatever setting is on the screen.

Hypnos Virtual has done this by creating Scentscape, a multi-sensual immersive media technology that transforms TVs and “smart” devices.

Modeled after “Smell-O-Vision,” a technology created in the 1960s that released odor during a movie, Scentscape creates a media-synced bio-aromatic “scent track,” that enables viewers to smell what’s being shown on the screen.

See roses on your TV? You’ll smell them in your home. Watching a cooking video? You’ll think the food is being prepared right in your kitchen.

The technology behind this involves neuroscience-verified all-natural essences that are atomized into a bio-aromatic airstream. The system has millions of combinations and quarter-second precision. So when you see something aromatic on the TV, you’ll smell it simultaneously.

Hypnos Virtual has developed its proprietary technology and plans to bring it to market within 18 months. Its team includes Virtual Realty experts and Ph.D.s in Sensory Science.
