Technology to Forecast Earthquakes
Earthquakes cause $35 billion in damage every year.
But what if there was a way to reduce that damage by preparing in advance?
precursor makes it possible. It’s created an Earthquake Forecasting System. Here’s how it works:
First, sensors in the ground and in outer-space measure “precursors” — tell-tale signs that an event may be about to happen. These include initial seismic activity, energy indicators, and environmental factors.
Second, these measurements are put through the company’s deep-learning network, which uses Artificial Intelligence and signal processing.
Finally, the result is a reading that can predict an earthquake’s time, location, and intensity.
precursor has successfully forecasted over 50 seismic events in five countries. And it’s been awarded a joint contract from defense departments in the U.S. and the UK.
The company could become a prime acquisition target for insurance companies and regional government institutions.
