Enabling Sustainable Space Travel
Industries like autos, energy, and logistics are increasingly trying to make a more positive impact on the environment, a focus known as "going green." Shouldn't the aerospace industry have a similar focus?
That’s the mission of Prime Lightworks. This company is developing reusable hydrogen rocket engines, designed for launching satellites into space. Founded by former SpaceX engineers, this company has created a launch vehicle based on renewable natural resources that don’t produce greenhouse gas emissions.
Prime Lightworks is targeting a massive market. By 2029, the global space-launch services market is projected to reach fourteen billion dollars. And by 2030, more than 11,000 satellites are estimated to be launched into space.
Prime Lightworks has raised nearly three million dollars from professional investors like Y Combinator and multiple angel investors. And in 2022, it graduated from the Cleantech Open Northeast accelerator program. The company has begun assembly of its prototype hydrogen combustion chamber system, a critical component to its launch system.
