Apptopia provides critical services for the mobile industry including in-app analytics, data mining and business intelligence.

Currently, most businesses have little visibility into app markets and need data to inform their product, marketing and monetization decisions. Apptopia’s mission is to provide transparency to the global app ecosystem and empower businesses with the intelligence they need to compete in today’s mobile app world.

Apptopia’s main platform, App Insights, is an intelligence tool that uses statistical analysis and machine learning to provide accurate estimates of app sales, revenue performance and user engagement statistics, as well as SDK Analysis.

Apptopia also offers a free analytics dashboard that helps publishers track their apps’ downloads, revenue and advertising data.

Apptopia aggregates data it receives from various sources to create a reliable picture of the app economy: through (1) its free mobile VPN service that collects in-app usage and engagement data; (2) web crawlers that index every app store, collecting public data directly every hour; and (3) data from the over 50,000 publishers that use its analytics services.

Apptopia is also building a marketplace for publishers to buy and sell the full, exclusive rights to their mobile apps.

Apptopia works with developers, app publishers, agencies, content platforms, media companies, brands, cellular networks, investors and financial firms. It considers its total addressable market opportunity to be $1.2 billion. This is broken down into 4 separate target markets: App Publishers ($830 million), Enterprise Customers ($120 million), Financial Firms ($230 million) and Mobile Platforms ($20 million).

Apptopia currently tracks 3.37 million apps and 131,000 apps are using Apptopia's Analytics.

Apptopia offers tiered services, ranging from $199 to $1,000 per month, as well as an Enterprise API feed (Apptopia recently signed a deal with Verizon to utilize the API, in a deal that brings in just under $300,000 annually).

The cost of acquiring a customer is $0.26 (and falling) for each dollar earned in annual recurring revenue. Average monthly revenues have been $64,000 over the last 12 months and Apptopia has achieved $31,000 in monthly recurring revenue from its Insights product.

Apptopia is headquartered in Boston and has 15 full-time employees.
