Perchance is a mobile dating app. It gives users a second chance to reconnect with someone with whom they shared a passing moment.

Dating apps are big business. According to Fortune.com, 40 million people in the U.S. used dating apps in 2015.

But Perchance is not your usual dating app.

Unlike platforms such as eHarmony, Tinder or Match, Perchance doesn’t rely on dating questions or picture slideshows to suggest romantic relationships.

Instead, Perchance is a "reconnection" app for people who have already established chemistry.

Perchance uses GPS to locate others in your vicinity so you can establish a “missed connection.” If they reciprocate, you can set up a time and place to meet.

As the company states, Turn "the one that got away" into "the one."

Here’s how it works:

Imagine passing someone walking down the street and exchanging smiles.

If you felt a connection, open the Perchance app and use GPS to see other users located in the same vicinity — and check to see if that person shows up.

If both of you confirm a “missed connection,” you can set up a time and place to meet via the app.

Perchance is a "freemium" app — users can start using the app for free, but a paid “premium” version provides additional features.

These features include personalized suggestions and customized alerts, which notify a Perchance user when a user with similar preferences is nearby.

Perchance is on track to launch in the South Florida market, specifically Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton.

South Florida is home to 2.35 million single people, the highest percentage in the U.S., presenting Perchance with a significant number of potential users.

The company's marketing campaigns will include placing advertisements in high foot-traffic areas such as malls, busy downtown streets and a Miami-area monorail train.

Once successful in South Florida, Perchance will make its app available across the country in both the Google Play and Apple App stores.
