Ubimo is a mobile marketing platform. It aggregates and analyzes billions of data points to build a rich and accurate understanding of real-life context.
Ubimo’s proprietary “Geo-Index” technology combines factors such as geo-data, local business data, neighborhood demographics, local events, and live weather data, to enable contextual targeting for highly specific advertising campaigns.
Its co-founders, Ran Ben-Yair, Oded Poncz, and Udi Graff also co-founded LabPixies, which Google acquired in 2010.
In 2012, the group reunited to found Ubimo. They were joined by Gilad Amitai, who was serving as General Manager at Matomy Media, a global display advertising company which went public in 2014 at a valuation of $350 million.
The team raised its Series A funding in August 2013, led by Pitango, a prominent Israeli VC that has been in the business since 1993 and which saw three of its portfolio companies IPO within the last year. Pitango is reinvesting a significant portion in the current round. Also joining this round is a yet to be named strategic investor.
To date, Ubimo has seen rapid adoption of its platform. Currently, 50 agencies are using Ubimo, with 20 managing more than one campaign, and 13 with more than three campaigns. The clients driving this demand include top-tier brands such as McDonald’s, Nike, Adidas, Kraft, and Victoria’s Secret.
Ubimo is currently working on behalf of agencies to manage campaigns, but is testing a self-service platform which is near launch-ready. In Q3 2015 Ubimo’s management team plans to shift from the hands-on, managed service model, to a white-label SaaS model, with the intention of selling the product to agencies who will handle all of the campaign management needs of advertisers. This shift should allow Ubimo to focus on continually improving the platform, position itself for scalable growth, and capture more attractive margins.
