Live-Saving Smartwatch App
Zoi is a smartwatch application that monitors your heart rate while you sleep.
According to the company, Zoi is the "app that can potentially save your life."
As you rest, Zoi’s proprietary software tracks your heart rate and sleeping patterns. If your heart rate drops below or goes above your resting heart rate, an alarm will go off.
If you don’t turn the alarm off, alerts will be sent to your loved ones. Zoi will even dial first responders for you in case of an emergency.
The app is designed to help save lives for those suffering from ailments such as heart disease and sleep apnea.
According to the American Heart Association, 1 in 4 people die of heart disease every year. And 1 in 8 people will die in their sleep each year, according to Answers.com.
Sleep apnea, which affects more than 42 million Americans each year, is one of the leading causes of dying in your sleep.
Meanwhile, 1 in 6 consumers currently own and use some form of wearable technology (such as a smartwatch). In fact, the wearable technology market is projected to surpass $4 billion by the end of 2017.
Zoi is compatible with the Apple Watch and Garmin wearable devices, and will be available for Fitbit devices in the near future.
The company completed a successful beta test of its app earlier this year and has filed a patent for its software.
Zoi will launch in the iTunes App store in December for $4.99 per month.
