Mama Gaia builds Artificial Intelligence-powered, app-enabled “smart” fridges.
These fridges help apartments, hospitals, and universities offer a place for food sales without the need for an on-site kitchen. Food stocked in each machine is locally-sourced, healthy, and offered in a “grab-and-go” style.
Perhaps surprisingly, vending machines are a $36 billion market in the U.S. Mama Gaia brings AI technology to this market.
Its AI is in the form of patent-pending image-based item recognition technology. Consumers use the Mama Gaia app to select the items they want, and food is restocked based on predictive algorithms that gauge supply and demand.
Mama Gaia tested a concept of its fridge in 2018, and was accepted into the Food Future Co. Accelerator in spring 2020. The company launched a “beta” version of its fridge in March 2021 and has since attracted its first paying customers.
