Our oceans contain nearly 200 million tons of plastic. By 2050, oceans may contain more plastic than fish.

Plastic bags for things like groceries are a major contributor to this problem. But what if you could use a plastic bag and then dissolve it in water once you’re done with it? Solubag has created a bag that does just that.

This company is the exclusive licensee in the U.S. of a patented raw material that can be used to make plastic-like products without the plastic. Completely dissolvable in water, this material can be used to make grocery bags, dog-waste bags, and liquidless laundry detergent. Furthermore, the technology behind its water-soluble products is non-toxic, meaning you can drink the water the product dissolves in.

Solubag has raised nearly two million dollars from investors. And last year, revenue grew 1,500% to $350,000. Notable Solubag customers include grocery chain H-E-B and food distributor Sysco.
